Some people may still need to shovel or snow-blow after most Metro Detroit picked up one to two inches on Saturday. Lenawee and Monroe counties received less than a half-inch, while around three inches fell in Sanilac County and more than a half-foot in Bad Axe.

A few flurries will be spotted in Southeast Michigan on Sunday evening, but clouds will decrease. Overnight skies will become partly cloudy to mostly clear. Expect cold temperatures. Following afternoon highs around 30 degrees in Metro Detroit, it will be in the lower to mid 20s for much of the Sunday evening evening.

Overnight lows will be 10 to 15 degrees for most of Southeast Michigan, except for a few single-digit temperatures in the Thumb. Wind chills will fall into the single digits across the region.

Monday morning will start off cold, but afternoon temperatures will rise to the upper 20s and lower 30s. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Westerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph. Lows will be in the upper teens.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few lake-effect snow showers. The region will get a reinforcement of cold air behind a cold front. Temperatures will peak in the mid to upper 20s. Low will fall into the teens.

The next weather system to bring Metro Detroit measurable snowfall will arrive on Wednesday. Southeast Michigan will get snow on the northern side of a low-pressure system, which will travel over the Ohio Valley.

The morning drive will be fine, but snow showers could already be in the area for the afternoon and evening commute. Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid 20s.

The snow will continue Wednesday night with lows in the teens to 20 degrees.

On Thursday morning, the snow is expected to taper off as the system moves northeast. More certainty on the system’s track is still needed, but odds are favorable for several inches of accumulation. Roads are likely to be messy for the morning drive.

Later in the day, temperatures will reach the upper 20s and dip to around 15 at night.

Friday will be mostly cloudy, cold, and dry. Plan for highs in the lower to mid 20s and lows in the teens. Besides needing to bundle up outdoors and cuddle indoors, the weather should not cause any inconveniences on Valentine’s Day.

4Warn Weather – Tuesday delivered some sunshine to parts of Southeast Michigan, but two significant weather systems are eyeing Southeast Michigan this week.

On Tuesday night, skies will be mostly cloudy as temperatures dip into the teens. In Dearborn, Madison Heights, Warren, and other Metro Detroit communities, it will be in the upper teens. Lows will be around 10 degrees in the Thumb. Northerly winds will be around 5 mph.

Under mostly cloudy skies, Wednesday afternoon temperatures will peak in the mid- to upper 20s. Metro Detroit’s weather will be relatively calm during the day, but precipitation will begin to arrive from the southwest in the evening.

Adrian, Ann Arbor, and Monroe will be among the first cities in Southeast Michigan to experience precipitation, which is likely to begin as light snow. After midnight, the transition to freezing rain will begin. Snow and sleet will also mix in at times. Overnight temperatures will be in the 20s and climb several degrees.

A 4Warn Weather Alert has been declared for Thursday morning due to wintry weather, including ice accumulation.

The ice accumulation will range from a thin layer near the I-69 corridor to nearly one-fourth of an inch in a few places in Monroe County. Generally, ice totals will decrease as one travels northward in Southeast Michigan. Greater snow totals will be north of M-59, where up to a half-inch of snow could fall.

While the areas with greater ice accumulation could have isolated power outages, the primary concerns will be the slick road conditions.

The precipitation will end by late Thursday morning, and temperatures will rise above freezing before noon. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 30s to 40 degrees will melt the ice. Southerly winds will increase, with gusts up to 30 mph.

Thursday night’s lows around 20 degrees will refreeze residual moisture on roadways and sidewalks.

Colder air will flow into Metro Detroit on Friday and the weekend, with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Saturday evening will bring another round of wintry weather, similar to the midweek system. Ice and snow accumulations will again be possible.

This includes “Sadistic Magician,” “Slime and Punishment,” and “Breathe Grease.”

The band is highly active and engaging with the fans as they move from side to side, use the riser up front, and often meet at mid-stage for some group poses. The stage setup has several hazardous waste containers along with two skeletons atop them. The band consists of lead vocalist Tony Foresta, guitarists Ryan Waste and Nick Poulos, bassist Philip Hall, and drummer Dave Witte. Dave may be unable to move around the stage, but he lays down a wicked beat on these thrashy songs. Several times during their set, Tony pulls up his shirt and pats his belly. He sure likes to keep it loose and fun on stage.

“Grave Dive” fires up the crowd as they put up their horns and pump their fists in the air. After “You’re Cut Off” and Poison the Preacher,” they play a catchy instrumental called “Wave of Death” that keeps the crowd moshing and crowd-surfing. “Restless and Wicked” is a rapid-fire song that has the guitarists tearing it up. Winding it down they play the set staple “The Art of Partying,” the heavy “Demoralizer,” and finish it off with the very short “Born to Party” which leaves the fans amped for the headliner to come.

Metal guitar legend Kerry King and his band hit the stage, and the fans let out thunderous applause and cheers. Kerry has assembled an all-star band with Mark Osegueda (Death Angel) on vocals, guitarist Phil Demmel (Machine Head), bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), and drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer). They lead off with “Where I Reign,” from the 2024 debut album From Hell I Rise. They follow that up with several other songs from the debut album including “Rage,” “Trophies of the Tyrant,” and “Residue” that has Phil tearing it up as the fans pump their fists in the air. Mark is all over the stage engaging the fans, and Kyle often whips his locks around as he headbangs and lays down a heavy bottom end. A circle pit starts early along with some crowd-surfing which keeps security up front busy.

After “Two Fists” and “Idle Hands,” they play the Slayer song “Repentless.” This song has the crowd really fired up with headbanging and fist-pumping. Phil takes the lead on some songs and often he and Kerry trade off shredding. Kerry is a machine as he rips off note after note at a torrid pace on a cool Flying V guitar. Kerry is now 60 years old and has been rocking since 1981 but he is showing no signs of slowing down.

Following three more songs from the debut album, they play “Disciple” by Slayer which has Mark letting out high screams. This song gets loud applause and whistles from the fans. Mark takes a moment to recognize a band that has influenced them and many others before they tear through great covers of the Iron Maiden classics “Purgatory” and “Killers.”

“Cruxifixation,” “At Dawn They Sleep,” and “Shrapnel” set the stage for a song the fans have been waiting to hear, the Slayer classic “Raining Blood.” With the stage lit in deep red, the band stands with their backs to the crowd as Paul plays an extended intro on the drums before Kerry kicks in with the familiar riffs. The fans respond with huge cheers and a massive circle pit that extends almost from the barrier up front to near the bar at the back. They end it with “Black Magic” and the debut album title track. Before the last song, Mark tells the crowd they have been “absolutely f***ing brilliant” and “with that much energy and aggression, we’ll be back.”
